There are days when everything just feels… heavy.
Work doesn’t excite you anymore. Messages keep coming in, but you don’t feel like replying. Even simple things start to feel like a chore. You’re not exactly “sad”, but you’re definitely not okay either.
That’s burnout.
And the truth is, many people in Singapore are quietly going through it.
We live in a system that moves fast. Expectations are high. Responsibilities stack up quickly, whether it’s work, family, finances, or community commitments.
Over time, it builds.
You tell yourself to push through. To be stronger. To not fall behind.
But burnout doesn’t always show up loudly.
Sometimes it looks like:
Losing motivation
Feeling numb
Getting irritated easily
Constant tiredness even after rest
And when that happens, it’s not a sign of weakness. It’s a sign you’ve been carrying too much for too long.
In Singapore, there’s a simple number you can call when things start to feel overwhelming:
📞 National Care Hotline – 1771
It’s a safe space. You don’t need to have everything figured out before calling.
You can just talk.
No judgement. No pressure. Just someone on the other side listening.
A lot of people hesitate.
“Is my problem serious enough?”
“Should I just handle it myself?”
“I don’t want to trouble anyone.”
But burnout doesn’t need permission to be valid.
You don’t need to wait until things completely break down before asking for help.
Sometimes, just saying things out loud can:
Clear your thoughts
Reduce the pressure you’re holding in
Help you feel less alone
There’s this idea that stopping means losing.
But in reality, pausing is what keeps you going.
Taking a break
Talking to someone
Re-evaluating what matters
These aren’t setbacks. They’re resets.
Just know this:
You’re not alone.
You’re not weak.
And you don’t have to go through it quietly.
Whether it’s calling someone, speaking to a friend, or simply giving yourself space to rest, start somewhere.
And if you need it:
📞 National Care Hotline – 1771
Sometimes the strongest thing you can do… is to reach out.
