Easy Ways to Keep Your Home Fresh at Northshore Waterfront

Living by the sea has its perks. Cooler breezes, gorgeous views. But it also means one thing — humidity. And with humidity comes the risk of mould creeping into our homes. Don’t worry though, a few simple habits can help keep things clean, dry and mould free.
Good airflow keeps moisture away
• Open your windows when the weather allows
• Switch on a fan now and then, especially in stuffy corners
• Don’t push furniture all the way to the wall. Let the air flow behind
They’re lifesavers in rooms like storerooms or bedrooms with little ventilation
• In our humid weather, it’s hard to keep humidity below 60 percent, even with aircon
• A dehumidifier helps bring it down to more manageable levels
• Use it more often during rainy days or when the house feels damp
We get it. Aircon means electricity bills. But in a seaside estate like Northshore Waterfront, where humidity can spike, using your aircon even just for an hour or two daily can really help
• Use the Dry mode to remove moisture without turning your room into an icebox
• Keep doors and windows shut while it’s on
• Clean those filters. It helps the unit work better and stops mould from growing inside
Mould loves wet spots, so don’t let water sit around
• Clean up spills immediately
• Don’t leave wet clothes lying around. Sun dry or use a dryer
• After showers, squeegee the bathroom glass and walls. Super fast, super effective
See a stain or drip? Don’t wait
• Check under sinks and ceilings once in a while
• Call in help early if you notice anything weird
It doesn’t have to be a chore
• Use anti mould spray or just good old vinegar and water
• Focus on high risk spots like bathroom tiles, window edges and aircon vents
• Clean or replace filters every month or two
• Book a servicing session once or twice a year. It helps catch problems early
Go for mould resistant choices
• Pick paints and materials made to fight mould
• Avoid carpet in damp prone rooms. Sorry, bathroom carpet lovers
Final Tip
You don’t have to do everything at once. Just building a few habits can go a long way. And if you ever need help figuring out where that weird smell is coming from, it’s probably mould. Start there
